Senegalese Women Leaders Platform for Peace and Security

The ËTU JAMM Platform, meaning “Peace Space” in Wolof, is a women-led peace initiative established in Senegal to promote peacebuilding, social cohesion, and inclusive civic participation.

Launched ahead of the July 2017 legislative elections, the platform brings together more than fifty women’s organizations from diverse Senegalese and Pan-African civil society networks. Coordinated by Femmes Africa Solidarité, ËTU JAMM is recognized for the credibility and leadership of its member organizations, their strong cohesion, and a shared code of conduct grounded in commitment, integrity, and collective responsibility.

Advocate for free, fair, peaceful, and transparent elections

Promote clear public messaging on gender, peace, and security

Strengthen the voice and participation of women in non-violent electoral processes

Raise awareness on the importance of national peace and stability over individual interests

With the support of development partners, ETU JAMM provides spaces for dialogue, mediation, capacity building, and community engagement to address social tensions and foster peaceful coexistence.

Through the platform, FAS continues to:

  1. Strengthen community dialogue and mediation mechanisms

  2. Promote women’s and youth participation in peacebuilding

  3. Support local leadership and civic engagement

  4. Foster collaboration between civil society, public institutions, and communities

By empowering communities and advancing inclusive dialogue, the ETU JAMM Platform contributes to building resilient societies and sustainable peace at both local and national levels.
